Anatomy of a Sailboat – Class One

In partnership with Community Sailing NOLA, through funding from the Flying Scot Sailing Foundation, LPWSA is offering a Winter Education Series. Initially offered on the North Shore at Pontchartrain Yacht Club in 2019, our course was cut short by the pandemic. Now it’s back thanks to funding from the Flying Scot Foundation and this time it’s on the South Shore hosted at Community Sailing New Orleans. Join us for “Anatomy of a Sailboat” the first workshop in the 10-week series hosted at Community Sailing New Orleans Lakeview Campus. The workshop is free, open to the public, and kid-friendly.

In the “Anatomy of a Sailboat” classroom-based workshop, participants will learn to ‘talk like a sailor’ by learning the basic parts of a sailboat and the function of each part. Understanding the basic anatomy of a sailboat is important as it gives both skipper and crew a common language to communicate effectively while onboard. A sailboat may seem overwhelming, but it is actually quite simple. Come find out for yourself!
